Regardless if it’s because of a change in plans or a rebranding strategy, you need to be able to change the primary domains of all the projects you run.
With ScalaHosting’s managed VPS plans, you can do that using SPanel – an in-house-built management platform specifically designed for our virtual private servers.
Here are the steps:
- Log into SPanel’s Admin Interface
SPanel’s login URL is available in the Welcome Email you receive upon signing up, and the credentials you need to use are the ones you set when you’re creating your Admin User.
- Locate the account you want to modify
If you click the List Accounts button, you’ll see all the accounts hosted on your VPS. Find the one you want to edit and click the Actions menu next to it.
- Select Change Domain and enter the new domain
From the Actions menu, click Change Domain. Enter the new domain in the pop-up that appears and click Change to set it as the new main domain for the account.
Changing the primary domain of an account is also possible if you use one of ScalaHosting’s cPanel VPSs.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Log into WHM
The login URL for your server’s management platform is available in the Welcome Email you received upon signing up.
- Go to Modify an Account page
The interface for modifying existing accounts is available under the Account Functions section in the sidebar menu on WHM’s homepage.
- Find the account you want to modify
WHM displays a list of all the accounts hosted on your server. Click on the one you want to modify.
- Change the account’s primary domain
WHM lets you modify the account’s primary domain as well as a number of other settings. After you’re ready, you need to click Save to apply the changes.
NOTE: The new domain won’t work with your account unless it’s registered and pointed to the nameservers available in your Welcome Email.
NOTE: The correct operation of some content management systems (including WordPress) is dependent on the domain name. Changing your account’s domain may require additional work to ensure your website functions correctly.
